The Suncoast's over-the-year growth rates for March 2011 were stronger than statewide growth rates in professional and business services (+2.3%) and trade, transportations, and utilities (+0.7%). |

The Second Annual Suncoast Career Expo set another record with ninety-three companies participating in the event that was held on April 1. More importantly, the companies we surveyed estimated they would likely hire 327 job seekers who attended the six hour event. While it will take time to finalize the actual numbers, our sense is the economy is improving based on the number of positions these companies are currently trying to fill. |

Dear ,
March was a phenomenal month for the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program. This program, which provides comprehensive employability services and training, placed 21 clients within employment. Further, two registered nurses who have yet to graduate have already secured jobs at a local hospital. The dedicated staff throughout our entire organization continue to work hand-in-hand with each other with the ultimate goal of finding employers the right candidate.

We're pleased to announce that on April 4, Suncoast Workforce was presented the Insignia Award by the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. This award recognizes Chamber members who have no unresolved customer complaints, no complaints for the current year, a current paid membership and having been a member for 10 or more consecutive years. Morgan Gerhart, Membership Representative with The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, presented the award to Dale Vollrath, President of TRC Staffing and Chair of the Suncoast Workforce Board. "It is exciting to see Suncoast Workforce be recognized for its outstanding contribution to our area. It is apparent that the more our community struggles, the greater the need is for the help that the Suncoast Workforce provides and this award is another indication that we are appreciated." said Vollrath. |
